Improvements to paths along Hafnarfjörður Road continue
Construction on paths along Hafnarfjörður Road continues. Now it's time for the section from Laufás to Álftanesvegur.
The project is being carried out by Betri Samgangna and involves the partial renovation of the existing paths along Hafnarfjarðvegur and the construction of a new path parallel to it, with separate routes for pedestrians and cyclists. At the same time, new signs will be installed and lighting will be renewed along the paths. The construction will thus contribute to increased safety for those using the paths.
During the closure for construction, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be directed via a bypass around the construction area. The work is expected to be completed in December 2026.
Stair construction at Arnarnes Bridge is also underway, with completion of that section scheduled for the end of the summer.
