Main focuses and achievements

Increased attendance and family-friendly space: In recent years, attendance at family-friendly spaces has increased, and the children's department and family space in the main museum were very popular. The museum responded by increasing the number of workshops and family events throughout the summer and winter.

Record year in events: There were 295 open events, including Museum Night, Harry Potter Day, which attracted around 1,000 guests, a Christmas book discussion, and numerous workshops for both children and adults. Also worth mentioning are knitting events that have attracted good luck, parents' mornings, and reading circles.

Powerful children's work: About 200 children registered for summer reading and submitted 806 review cards, a record number. 2,721 students visited the main library for organized visits, including summer reading courses for 1st and 2nd graders, a workshop for 4th graders in connection with Nordic Literature Week, a writing workshop for 5th graders, and a poetry slam for 9th graders. Preschool and elementary school students also attend open receptions where more reading and book selection is done. Open events include craft workshops, family workshops, summer workshops, light boards and magnet blocks, and stories and songs.

Álftanes Museum: 2,391 guests visited the branch during the year, which is an increase from 2024. It is important to offer events and workshops to families in the suburbs. Every Thursday there has been something fun on offer for younger children. On occasional Saturdays during the winter, more festive family events/workshops are offered.

2025 a lucky year

The year 2025 was a successful one. The library strengthened its position as a vibrant cultural and community center, with record attendance, diverse event hosting, and strong children's programs.
