Garðabær's cleanup effort pushed aside

Garðabær's cleanup effort has begun and will run until May 4. Town officials were lucky with the weather when they kicked off the effort, as the sun came out.
Town council members took action and cleaned up the area around Arnarnes Creek, thereby launching Garðabær's cleanup effort.
Neighbors, community groups, nonprofit organizations, sports clubs, and schools are encouraged to participate in this annual effort. Groups can apply to be assigned areas to clean up in their local area and can receive a grant to raise funds or to host a barbecue at the end of a good cleanup.
The town council members were assisted by Ása Björk Sigurðardóttir, the leader the Clean Iceland association, as well as other powerful parties from the organization. They have encouraged the townspeople to join forces in the fight against litter in the environment.
