The final ceremony of the Great Reading Competition in Garðabær

Jökull Orri Aríelsson from Flataskóli emerged as the winner of the Big Reading Competition in Garðabær. Íris Rut Magnúsdóttir from Sjálandsskóli was second and Arnar Dagur Grétarsson from Urriðaholtsskóli was third.

The final ceremony of the Great Reading Competition in Garðabær took place at Hofstaðaskóli on April 29th.
Then, 7th grade students selected from Álftanesskóli, Flataskóli, Hofsstaðaskóli, Sjálandskóli and Urriðaholtsskóli read excerpts from a work of fiction and poetry.

Jökull Orri Aríelsson from Flataskóli emerged as the winner of the competition. Íris Rut Magnúsdóttir from Sjálandskóli was in second place and Arnar Dagur Grétarsson from Urriðaholtsskóli was in third place.

The judges of the competition were Jóhann Skagfjörð, principal of Garðaskóli, Anna María Gunnarsdóttir, assistant principal of Fjölbrautaskólin in Garðabær, and Margrét Berndsen Sigurgeirsdóttir, director of the Garðabær library.

The students performed well and at the end all participants received recognition. Sigríður Hulda Jónasdóttir, chairwoman of the Gardabaer school board, gave a speech and Almar Guðmundsson, mayor of Gardabaer, presented the students with awards.

It is worth noting that the Great Reading Competition is 30 years old this year. We sincerely congratulate the winners and thank everyone for a fun and successful competition.
