Cooperation agreement with Garðasókn on youth work signed
A new collaboration agreement between the Garda Parish and the town of Gardabær on the implementation of youth work under the auspices of the Garda Parish has been signed.
Almar Guðmundsson, mayor of Garðabær, and Ingibjörg Hauksdóttir, vice-chairman of the Garðabær parish committee, signed the agreement, which includes, among other things, strengthening children's and youth work at the church, carrying out educational projects for children and young people, supporting musical activities and working towards an improved youth community in Garðabær. The agreement is valid until the end of 2028.
When implementing the agreement, the Garda Municipality shall pay special attention to meeting the needs of disabled children and young people in accordance with the Gardabær policy on issues of disabled people.
The goals of the Garðasókár youth work include strengthening children's and youth work at the church, for example in the form of Sunday school, strengthening connections with other sports, leisure and prevention activities in the town, carrying out educational projects for children and young people with an emphasis on human rights, aid work and life skills, operating a choir for young people and offering parents' mornings with education and good fellowship.
