A message to cat owners during bird breeding season
On this occasion, we would like to remind you that according to the agreement on keeping cats in Garðabær, the owner of a cat is required to take into account bird life during the breeding season from April 15 to August 31 by hanging a bell on the cat and, where appropriate, limiting its outdoor activities.

It states, among other things, that it is desirable to put colorful collars on outdoor cats because studies show that cats with collars kill up to 19 times fewer birds than cats without collars. Also, collars that are multi-colored (rainbow colors) have given better results than red or yellow.
Bird Protection recommends that cat owners control their cats' outdoor time during breeding season and keep cats indoors at night (preferably from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next morning).
