The Garðabær Music School building is expanding.

The first steps were taken at a ceremony recently to mark the start of a new extension to the Garðabær Music School. The new facility is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2027.
The Garðabær Music School building will expand significantly in the coming months, with a new extension spanning 590 square meters, which will be added to the existing building, which is about 1000 square meters.
"There is great anticipation in our group about the expansion of the school. The extension will greatly improve the facilities for teaching and collaborative practice. We are looking forward to the future and looking forward to next year when we put the new extension into use," says Laufey Ólafsdóttir, principal of the Garðabær School of Music, about the planned expansion.
A group of students at the school performed musical pieces for those present on the occasion.

Music education in Garðabær is in full swing, with over 500 students currently studying at the school. "It was a fun time and the weather gods were on our side. It has proven and proven that music education in Garðabær is of a high standard and we know that the expansion will be a welcome addition to the school," says Almar Guðmundsson, Mayor of Garðabær.
