Spring cleaning of plots and Garðabær's cleanup effort ahead

Spring cleaning of plots in Garðabær will be the same this year as in the past two years, i.e. over 30 containers will be placed in the town to receive garden waste that residents bring into the containers themselves.

Spring cleaning of plots will take place from May 8th to 26th, following the Garðabær cleanup campaign which runs from April 20th to May 4th.

Senior citizens and those who need assistance putting yard waste in the containers are advised to contactGarðabær service center, which will be within their reach.

Gardabaer's annual cleanup effort

The annual cleanup campaign, which runs from April 20 to May 4, encourages neighbors, community groups, nonprofit organizations, sports clubs, and schools to participate. Groups can apply to be assigned areas to clean up in their local area and can receive grants to raise funds or host a barbecue at the end of a good cleanup.

Interested groups can contact the Garðabær Environmental Project Manager who will assign areas for cleanup and provide further information:lindajo@gardabaer.is.

Practical points:

· Participants are asked to pick up trashin the assigned area

· You can pick up trash bags at the Garðabær Service Center, Lyngás 18.

· The service center also lends out trash cans to those in need, as possible.

· Participants are encouraged to sort plastic separately into separate bags.

· Bags should be placed so that they do not blow away and are in a visible location to facilitate reception.

· After cleaning, send confirmation and bag location to lindajo@gardabaer.is, town employees will pick up the bags.
