The Jazz Village in Gardabaer

The Jazz Village takes place the first weekend in May at Garðatorg. The festival was first held in 2023. The Jazz Village's artistic director is Ómar Guðjónsson, who works closely with the cultural representative of Garðabær.

Many of the country's best jazz musicians perform at the Jazz Village, performing music and giving talks. Collaboration with the Good Shepherd is one of the key factors in making the village a fairy tale world where people of all ages come together and furniture and knick-knacks are sold to support good causes. Another characteristic of the Jazz Village are the multi-colored balls that decorate the ceiling of the pedestrian street during the festival. The village's experience designers are Kristín Guðjónsdóttir and Halla Kristjánsdóttir, while Hans Vera is in charge of construction and photography.

The Jazz Village will be bigger this year in celebration of Garðabær's 50th anniversary. The festival will run from April 30th to May 3rd.
