On the occasion of Garðabær's 50th anniversary, four interesting history walks are offered around Garðabær.

The first walk will be around the Arnarnes under the guidance of architect Pétur Ármannsson and Sigríður Sigurjónsdóttir, director of the Icelandic Design Museum.

Arnarnesið is the first planned neighborhood where it was stipulated that buildings should be designed by architects. On the western side of the headland you can find gems of Icelandic architectural history from the 1960s, including detached houses by Manfreður Vilhjálmsson, Helga Hjálmarsson and Gunnar Hansson.

The start will be from the parking lot next to Mávanes 1.

Participation is free of charge, but a maximum of 40 participants are expected, who must register here: Registration - Architectural Walk around Arnarnes
