Information meeting with parents at Urriðaholt School

On Monday, April 13, an information meeting was held regarding a traffic accident that occurred on March 17. The information meeting was held at Urriðaholtsskóli, and parents and guardians of the children who were on the bus when the accident occurred were invited to the meeting.
Representatives from Urriðaholt School, the Gardabær Education and Leisure Department, the group tour company Trex, and the police reviewed the issue at the meeting and answered questions from those present.
The incident, the school's procedures that were followed and the next steps were reviewed. Also, the timeline of the case, both regarding the traffic accident itself, what has been done from March 17th to the present day. Among other things, it was stated that Trex has already changed its procedures in such a way that from now on, drivers driving to and from school will always call the police when a collision occurs, regardless of whether the incident is assessed as minor or not.
The meeting also reviewed what could have been done better by Gardabaer following the accident, for example regarding the provision of information to parents and guardians. A police representative then reviewed their procedures and confirmed that no comments had been made regarding the safety equipment on the bus, which had been inspected after the accident.
Finally, the next steps were discussed and, among other things, it was stated that starting in the 2026/2027 school year, swimming lessons will take place in the sports facilities at Urriðaholtsskóli.
