Activities
Garðahraun offers a variety of creative leisure activities after school until 4:30 p.m. The child can come once a week or as often as desired. Afternoon refreshments are provided.
The goal of Garðahraun is to provide children with a safe haven and offer organized leisure activities to suit everyone.
Emphasis is placed on:
- respect for the individual
- professional work methods
- positive communication
- good cooperation with parents.

Apply in Garðahraun
Applications are being accepted at Garðahraun on Gardabaer service portal. Once the application and supporting documents have been received, the application will be reviewed by Garðahraun's admissions team. Once the application is approved, the child must be registered at Väla leisure website.
A condition for an application to be approved is that the child has a diagnosis from an accredited diagnostic provider, such as Consulting and analysis center or Children's Mental Health Center.
Application evaluation
When evaluating applications, the following factors are taken into account:
- Diagnosis of the child's disability from an accredited diagnostic provider.
- Support Needs Assessment (SIS) from the Counseling and Analysis Center.
- The child's educational and social status, social participation and well-being.
- We wish parents and child with respect to age and maturity.
- Assessment of individual service needs.

Assumptions and explanations
• Sibling discount: 50% of the basic fee for children over one and 75% for children over two.
• Income-related discount: 40% of the general accommodation fee (apply in the service portal).
• Leisure car: registration through Väla Winter Leisure; fee valid for spring semester 2026 and will be reviewed for fall semester 2026.
