In Garðabær you can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. Here is a selection of the best.

Putting green

Need to practice your putting? The putting course at Vífilsstaðaveg is 18 holes. The course is open to everyone and golfers bring their own club and ball. The course is open during the summer.

Beach volleyball

There are three beach volleyball courts in Bæjargarður, Garðabær, south of Ásgarður. Perfect entertainment on good weather days.

Anyone can use the courts, but those with reserved times will be given priority at the respective court. Appointments can be made electronically at the following address: https://gardur.skedda.com/booking.

Frisbee golf

Frisbee golf is a fun pastime. The Frisbee golf course at Vífilsstaðir has 10 lanes and offers a great variety. Users of the course bring their own Frisbees to play with. The course is in the park south of Vífilsstaðir.

Fun playgrounds

In Garðabær, the nearest playground is always a short walk away. We recommend checking out Garðabær map website, check that Practical information and so Playground and see where all the town's playgrounds are located.

Bicycle path

The bike path above Lundaból preschool is about 440 meters long.

Fitness centers

The fitness center is ideal for use on mild days and exercising outdoors.

Open fitness centers are located in five locations in Garðabær; by Arnarneslækinn, Sunnuflöt, in Bæjargarður, in Vinagarður in Urriðaholt and in Álftanes by the swimming pool. The equipment is suitable for everyone 13 years and older and is easy to use. Each piece of equipment is color-coded to indicate which elements the equipment trains.

The star formation in Heiðmörk

The observatory in Heiðmörk offers ideal conditions for observing the starry sky and the northern lights. The observatory has five educational signs, including one about the moon and another about the sun and the solar eclipse.

The structure itself provides good shelter and has a bench inside; everything is, of course, made from timber from Heiðmörk.

The results of the democracy project Betri Garðabær

The Starry Night in Heiðmörk is a project that was approved in the Better Garðabær elections in 2021. Better Garðabær is a democratic project where residents submit ideas for projects they want to see in the town and residents vote on the ideas.
