Support services

Support services are for people who live in their own homes and need support due to reduced capacity, disability, family circumstances, stress or illness.

Objectives of support services

The aim of support services is to assist people who, due to their circumstances, need support with activities of daily living, household chores or to break social isolation. The service aims to empower people to help themselves so that they can live at home for as long as possible.

Disabled people with long-term support needs receive services on the basis of Gardabaer's rules on support services for disabled people.

Please note that the Capital Region Health Service is responsible for nursing and rehabilitation. See more about home care.

Apply for support services

You are applying for support services in Gardabaer service portal or returns application form to the Garðabær service center. The application will be processed when all supporting documents have been received.

Application process

After you have applied for support services, welfare advisors will contact you and arrange a time for a visit. The advisor will assess, in consultation with you, what support you need and provide information about what services are available and suitable for you. Once the assessment of your support needs is complete, the application will be considered at a welfare advisory meeting.
