Digital transformation is about improving services and working methods through technological innovations. This is a very large transformation project for both the public and private sectors, but the benefits are to simplify the lives of citizens and improve efficiency and operations.

The new multi-purpose sports hall in Garðabær, Miðgarður , was officially opened on Saturday, April 30th, when a celebration was held in the building from 1-4 p.m. There was a varied entertainment program in the building and guests were given the opportunity to explore the sports facility.

On Saturday, April 30th, from 1-4 p.m., the opening ceremony of Miðgarður, a multi-purpose sports center in Vetrarmýri in Garðabær, will take place. Everyone is welcome!

Margrét Lilja Guðmundsdóttir, a specialist at Research and Analysis, will present the results of the latest survey on the well-being of primary school children in grades 8, 9, and 10, on Wednesday, April 27th at 8 p.m. in Sveinatunga.

Last October, a collaborative project between the Housing and Public Works Authority (HMS), the Icelandic Confederation of Industrialists (ASÍ) and the Capital Region Fire Department (SHS) entitled "Safe Housing for All" was launched, with the aim of mapping residential accommodation in commercial buildings. The project began with a mapping of the capital region, which has now been completed, and detailed results can be found in a report that was subsequently prepared.

Garðabær's annual cleanup campaign begins on Environment Day, April 25. Neighbors, residents' associations, non-profit organizations, sports clubs, and schools are encouraged to participate in the cleanup campaign with the goal of making Garðabær one of the tidiest towns in the country.

A new system where residents of Garðabær can choose and rent a vegetable garden or a planter box has now been launched. The gardens can be found in 3 locations in Garðabær, in Hæðahverfi, in Álftanes and in Urriðaholt.

The first day of summer will be celebrated on Thursday, April 21st.

Garðabær's swimming pools are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but otherwise opening hours remain unchanged.

The Garðabær Jazz Festival will be held for the 16th time from April 21st to 24th. The festival is organized by the Garðabær Culture and Museum Committee, and the artistic director has been musician Sigurður Flosason from the beginning.

The Gardabaer Electoral Commission has accepted five candidacies for the local elections in Gardabaer, which are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 14th.

In the coming years, 1,800 streetlights in Garðabær will be replaced with better lights, with more durable and energy-saving light bulbs, as well as with higher light quality. Work will begin this year to replace about 500 lights with mercury bulbs that are on children's paths and near schools.

The Children's Cultural Festival in Garðabær ends on Saturday, April 9th with fun, creativity and joy for the whole family. The program is free and takes place in glass houses at Garðatorg, at the Icelandic Design Museum and at the Garðabær Library.

An agreement for planning consultancy in development area A and Hafnarfjarðarvegur in Garðabær between the town limits was signed yesterday, Thursday, by Mayor Gunnar Einarsson, Hallgrímur Þór Sigurðsson from Arkþing – Nordic and Helga Jóhanna Bjarnadóttir from Efla.

The fishing season in Vífilsstaðavatn runs from April 1 to September 15.
