Bouncy castles are extremely popular these days. They are inflatable jumping mattresses that come in all shapes and sizes. The idea and function is simple; on a bouncy castle, everyone should be able to enjoy themselves and play by jumping and bouncing.

At Lake Urriðavatn in Garðabær, you will find numerous new educational signs about birdlife by the lake. The installation of the educational signs is a collaborative project between Toyota in Iceland and Garðabær.

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, a recount of votes from the local elections held last Saturday took place in Garðabær. The classification of all votes was reviewed and every single vote was counted anew. The number of votes was divided between parties in exactly the same way in the recount as in the original count.

The Star Run will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, May 21st, and like last year, the race will start at 4:00 PM. There will be two running routes, a 10 km loop and a 4 km loop.

The Gardabær Electoral Commission has agreed to grant a request for a recount of votes in the local elections. The recount will take place on Wednesday, May 18th.

Four lists received representatives elected to the municipal council, the Independence Party's D-list received 7 representatives, the Garðabæjarlistan's G-list received 2 representatives, Viðreisnar's C-list received 1 representative and the Progressive Party's B-list received 1 representative.

The election meeting for the Garðabær municipal council elections began this morning, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 09:00 and will continue until 22:00 tonight. Here on the Garðabær website, turnout figures will be posted throughout the day.

On Wednesday, May 11th, the new outdoor recreation center of the Vífils Scout Association, called Vífilsbúð, was inaugurated. The Vífilsbúð outdoor recreation center is located by Grunnuvötn in Heiðmörk. With the arrival of the new Vífilsbúð outdoor recreation center, better opportunities are created to promote the interest of children and adolescents in the activities of the scout association, as the premises will be used to operate a variety of educational activities in the spirit of the scout movement.

The election meeting for the Garðabær municipal council elections, which are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 14, 2022, will be held at the Mýrinn Sports Center at Skólabraut and Álftanesskóli at Breiðamýri. The election meeting will begin at 09:00 and last until 22:00.

On Tuesday, May 10th, the new riding hall of the Sóti equestrian club in Álftanes was inaugurated. Representatives from bæjarstjórn Garðabæjar and Sóti representatives jointly cut the ribbon on this occasion, and young people from the equestrian club showed their skills on beautiful horses in the riding hall.

In December 2021, Garðabær decided to conduct an audit of the activities that took place in the daycare and preschool that the couple Beverly Sue Gíslason and Einar Gíslason ran in Garðabær intermittently between 1996-2014 and the municipality's procedures for the activities.

On Thursday, May 5, the municipal councilors in Garðabær, together with the chairman of the preschool committee, broke ground on a new preschool at Kauptún in Garðabær. Cheerful and cheerful children from the choir of the Hæðarból preschool in Garðabær arrived at the site and sang for those present at the ceremony.

On Friday, May 6, an agreement was signed between Garðabær and Framkværmdafélag Arnarhvols for the auctioning of plots in Vetrarmýri. This year, Garðabær's cleanup campaign began on Environment Day on April 25th and will continue until May 9th when spring cleanup begins. Garðabær's municipal council members did not leave anything to chance and, as usual, participated in the cleanup campaign.
