The school playgrounds in Silfurtún are for children aged 6 - 13 and there are still a few available playgrounds this summer.

The Garðabær Town Council has approved payments to guardians of children 12 months and older who are on the waiting list for preschool placement in Garðabær.

Mánahvoll Preschool began operations in August 2021. About 81 children are currently enrolled in Mánahvoll, but it is expected that the preschool will be able to accommodate up to 112 children when all eight departments are operational.

The first meeting of the new Gardabær town council was held on June 2. The Town Artist of Garðabær 2022 is singer and children's book author Birgitta Haukdal. The selection was announced at a ceremony in Sveinatunga on Garðatorg on May 25. On the same occasion, Birgitta and her friends in Írafári were presented with a double platinum record for their best-selling album "Allt sem ég sé" and they recorded the song for the occasion.

The Garðabær Education Strategy 2022-2030 has now been published. The municipality's previous strategy was revised in extensive consultation with children in preschool, primary and music schools, staff, elected representatives, guardians and residents.

The Central Party's M-list has appealed the conduct of the local elections in Garðabær to the Election Appeals Committee. The appeal refers to the fact that the ballot was drawn up in a way that did not ensure equality between candidates.
