The Garðabær Library at Garðatorg has opened a new and special play and reading area for children.

Garðabær Music School is offering an ambitious program on Music Schools Day, which will be held on Saturday, February 14. The school will offer 14 concerts to mark the occasion.

A renewed agreement between the Town of Gardabaer and the Gardabaer Senior Citizens Association (FEBG) regarding the town's continued support for physical activity and health promotion for older people in Gardabaer has been signed.

A residents' meeting on issues concerning older people in Garðabær will be held on March 11th at the Sjáland restaurant.

It was a fun moment when the new multi-purpose social facility at Lambamýri 1 in Álftanes was officially put into use. The facility will, among other things, house félagsstarf for older people in Álftanes and the Álftanes Senior Citizens Association (FEBÁ) will be based in the premises.

The Education and Leisure Department and the Welfare Department of Garðabær offer courses for parents who want to increase their skills in handling their parenting role.

Museum Night will take place on February 6th and there will be a great program in Garðabær. All events are free.

91% of residents are satisfied with Garðabær as a place to live and 86% are satisfied with Garðabær's services overall. Compared to other municipalities Garðabær consistently ranks at the top when it comes to resident satisfaction with key service aspects. This is shown by the results of a new Gallup service survey conducted annually.

Primary schools in Gardabaer have now begun implementing Skillful Teaching in Practice (STiP). The first step in the implementation was a training course held for school administrators in Gardabaer.

Due to a fault, there is no water in Sjáland and the surrounding area. Repairs are underway.

Construction work on changes and improvements to the pedestrian street at Garðatorg has begun. The work includes renovation of the roof and flooring.

Construction on raising the seawalls at Álftanes will begin on January 29th.
