Disabled children and young people

Garðabær provides services to disabled children and youth according to an assessment of support needs.

Support families

A foster family takes a disabled child into their care for a short period of time to relieve the child's family of stress and provide a change.

Disabled children can stay for a short time with a supportive family to provide them with a change and relieve pressure on their families.

The foster family is usually with the child for two days a month. Staying with a foster family is contractually bound to a specific period of time.
