The weather has improved, so school authorities in the capital area have decided to open kindergartens at 1:00 p.m. After-school centers, sports activities, music schools, and community centers will begin at their traditional times.

The National Commissioner of Police has declared a civil protection emergency for the entire country due to severe weather tomorrow, Monday, February 7th.

Miðgarður is the name of the new multi-purpose sports hall in Vetrarmýri in Garðabær. The first indoor training session in the building was held this morning, Saturday, February 5th, when bæjarstjórn Garðabæjar officially opened the building for training.

Proposals for a coordinated waste management system in the capital area and separate collection of organic waste presented: A major step forward for residents

YELLOW WARNING, DANGER LEVEL 1 (ŻÓŁTY ALERT) A yellow weather warning is in effect today, Monday, January 31, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Guardians must assess for themselves whether children need to be accompanied to or from school or after-school activities.

A new time for a briefing on the local planning proposals will be Friday, February 4th at 4:00 PM. The meeting will be held in Sveinatunga on Garðatorg and will also be broadcast live on Garðabær's Facebook page.

General crowd restrictions will be 50 people, social distancing will be 1 meter, pubs and entertainment venues will be allowed to reopen and their opening hours and those of other restaurants will be extended by two hours. Seated events for 500 people will be permitted under certain conditions.

Changes to quarantine rules will take effect at midnight on Tuesday, January 25th.

An orange weather warning is in effect today, Tuesday, January 25th, from 12-4pm in the capital area. Guardians must assess for themselves whether children need to be escorted from school or after-school activities. During an orange weather warning, there is a greater need to escort children from school.
