Town artist of Garðabær
Since 1992, Garðabær has provided grants to artists.

The Culture and Museums Committee makes recommendations to the town council regarding allocations, and only artists who reside in Garðabær are considered.
The appointment of the town artist takes place in the spring at a ceremony. On the same occasion, an artist in Garðabær is awarded an honorary certificate for his work in the interest of culture and a grant is awarded to young people.
